
| The Warrior Hero The tomb dates to the very beginning of the New Kingdom & the biography of its owner, on the walls of his tomb give contemporary witness to the expulsion & ultimate defeat of the Hyksos. (The Hekau-Khasut) i.e Foreign Rulers as the Ancient Egyptians new them! The wars to expel the Hyksos initiated by Seqenenre Tao II & Kamose but ultimate success came to King Ahmosis I (1550/1525 BC) the founder of the 18th Dynasty the new empire. The epoch that gave us Amenhotep III, Tuthmosis III & Ramases the Great. Ahmose Son of Ibana joined the army in the junior ranks & rose to be one of the highest officers, "The Kings Admiral of the fleet" serving with great distinction the kings, Ahmosis, Amenhotep I & Tuthmosis I spanning a period of 50 Years. An exceptional service record for the times. The walls of his last resting place bear witness to his great feat's of individual bravery, slaying many of the kings enemies. Ultimately leading to the highest honour available at the time. The "Gold of Bravery" on no fewer than 7 occasions. Ahmose son of Ibana was undoubtedly one of the military heroes of his time. The biography states :- 4 of his awards were earned in conflicts against the Dispised Hyksos, 3 for battles fought & won around the Hyksos capital Avaris. A fourth after a successful siege of the town of Sharuhen @ Hyksos stronghold in Canaan. The victories over the hated Hyksos laid the foundations for what we today call the new kingdom one of the most prosperous periods in the whole of Ancient Egypt history.
